I saw a statistic today that said 80% of internet users participate in voluntary groups or organizations, compared with 56% of non-internet users.

My only question: There are people who don’t use the internet ever?

A-Z

Grabbed this from one of my favorite blogs to read… meals & moves. Thought I’d give it a go.

A is for age: I am 23 years old and despite what Blink 182 says, people do like me.

B is for breakfast today: Unfortunately, only coffee and some cinnamon sugar kettle corn popcorn. The popcorn is actually really weird for me, because I never eat that stuff, but this time it was good.

C is for currently craving: A breakfast burrito.

D is for dinner tonight: I’m going over to a friends house tonight to have a little St. Paddy’s day celebration and I’m not bringing the food. I think they’ve decided to have shepherds pie, though, which I’ve never had. Look at that… another first!

E is for favorite type of exercise: Anything that I don’t realize I’m exercising. Classes are good - I lean towards spin (where I “race” people) or boot camps (where I see if I can last longer than people). I wonder if I’m competitive. Sports are always a great form of exercise in my book.

F is for an irrational fear: Hair in bathtubs and showers. I hate it. It makes me gag and it makes me lean away from it to the point where I’ve almost fallen out of the shower to stay away. That being said, I’ve put my big girl panties on a few times when I seem to be the only one in the house capable of cleaning the drain. I still gag every time.

G is for gross food: Avocado. I know. You love it. It’s so good for me. It’s got tons of natural, healthy oils. I don’t care. I can’t get down with the texture or the taste.

H is for hometown: Kearney, Nebraska

I is for something important: Friendship. I don’t know what I’d do without the friends I have and the friends I’ve made over the past 7 or 8 months.

J is for current favorite jam: Like… spreadable jam? Or song jam? I love pretty much any kind of berry jam and I’ve been jamming to a lot of Young the Giant and Kings of Leon.

K is for kids: Someday… I’m no where near being ready to talk about something like that.

L is for current location: Denver - America’s best kept secret (in my humble opinion).

M is for the most recent way you spent money: Dinner at Prickly Pete’s last night.

N is for something you need: Shaving cream.

O is for occupation: Foundation Intern aka raising money for hospitals

P is for pet peeve: When people constantly are wiping hair away from their face, especially guys.

Q is for a quote: I’ve been reading a lot of Eleanor Roosevelt quotes lately.

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

R is for random fact about you: I have Osgood-Schlatter disease

S is for favorite healthy snack: Well, now that someone brought it into the office this morning, cinnamon sugar popcorn!

T is for favorite treat: Ooooh… depends on the day. Candy almost all of those days, though.

U is for something that makes you unique: I love to talk to people I don’t know but that also depends on how I’m feeling that day and how I’m perceiving them as feeling about me talking to them. I’m known to strike up conversation with almost anyone. The only person I haven’t wanted to talk to lately is that expletive-dude who towed my car.

V is for favorite vegetable: Artichoke

W is for today’s workout: Can I say yesterdays workout? Yoga and some “church-volleyball”. Today, I’m not sure I’ll make it to the gym. Too much going on… Skiing tomorrow and Sunday though!

X is for X-rays you’ve had: Oh goodness. I can’t even count or remember how many I’ve had. I can remember my wrist, my ankle(s) more than once, knee, head, neck, back… I’m sure there have been more. My mom’s the authority on this one.

Y is for yesterday’s highlight: Yoga and then hanging out with some new friends.

Z is for your time zone: MDT

I’m calling this my week of firsts.

On Saturday (which I guess is technically last week, but who cares?) I went skiing with Chris Anthony. He’s a professional skier who has been in a bunch of Warren Miller films. Yup, those films that your private schools have been showing you on Saturday nights. I skied with the crazy red-head guy!

On Sunday I went to this new restaurant in Capital Hill (an area of Denver). Really fun, eclectic little place. Cap Hill actually seems fun in general. I think in a few years, I’ll be moving there. It’s close enough to downtown and a beautiful park called Wash Park that I think it’d be just perfect.

On Monday, the mailman talked to me for the first time. And I mean talked. Not just a grunt (pretty typical for him) or a “Bye.” We had a conversation. When I’m working at the front desk on Monday’s, I always get to see this guy. He’s a middle-age, Asian man and he ALWAYS has his sunglasses on. You know what got him to talk? I asked if he wanted some candy.

People love candy.

On Tuesday I went belly dancing. I know I know… let it out. Get your giggles out of the way. Because THAT was a hard workout! I am telling you, if you want to work your core and butt, get into a belly dancing class. Two days later and I’m finally feeling the full extent of the burn and I like it! One the guys on my hockey team, his girlfriend is a dance instructor. Super sweet girl, really great dancer. I hope that I can go again soon.

On Wednesday I went rock climbing. At the REI Flagship in Downtown Denver (aka outdoor-heaven… and where I want to spend a ton-o-money) there is a massive climbing wall. But it’s not like normal climbing walls, it’s like a real rock. My friend Anisha took me (for only $5!) and encouraged me the entire time. Despite super sweaty hands, I made it to the top three times!

Look at all that accomplishment! And it’s not even 11:00 am on Thursday.

As much as I love life right now, I’m ready for this poor, paycheck-to-paycheck, eating-RANDOM-combinations-of-things-because-it’s-what-I-have phase to be over.
